About Us

At Brune, we build trend-aware fashion with engineered fits and premium feel—designed for Indian proportions, tones and tastes. Each garment is the result of calibrated trend analysis, structured design workflows and precision fit development.

How We Work

Trend signals are pulled from the leading fashion hubs like Tokyo, Seoul, New York and Paris and carefully decoded. Silhouettes are recalibrated—shape, proportions, cuts—to better suit Indian frames, climate and aesthetic sensibilities. The result: fashion-forward pieces that feel sharper, more wearable and built to flatter.

Each fabric is chosen for its expensive look and feel—with structure, stretch and drape calibrated to hold shape and move with the body. We build a colour palette tested on melanin-rich skin tones—to avoid washed-out results and ensure every shade complements, not competes with, Indian beauty.

We work on custom dress forms and mannequins developed using data from real Indian bodies—factoring in height, proportions and structure that most Indian brands overlook. This foundation allows us to engineer patterns that feel intentional, not improvised. The result: garments that sit right, move better and fit like they were made for you—because they were.

Once the base garment pattern is built, it goes through 3D visualisation and stress mapping to catch tension points, drag lines and volume issues early. But we don’t stop at digital. Each design is prototyped and tested on our custom-engineered dress forms, followed by fit trials on real bodies to verify how the garment holds, drapes and moves.

Once a style is approved, it enters production under a controlled process. Each piece is checked across three stages—pre-production, in-line and final inspection—to catch deviations before they reach the customer. It’s how we ensure that the garment you receive fits like the one we approved, every time.

The Origin Story

BRUNE is built on the lived experience of one Indian woman who spent years listening, selling and designing for other Indian women.

Founder Adrija began her fashion journey with a degree from National Institute of Fashion Technology and early exposure to corporate fashion through a European brand.

In 2020, disillusioned by the impersonal churn of fast fashion and with opportunities narrowing during the pandemic, she began a small thrift business—curating and selling pieces from her own closet. What started as an experiment soon grew into a loyal online community, VC funding and a brick-and-mortar thrift store in Hauz Khas, Delhi, which led to hands-on interactions with thousands of Indian women trying on clothes and voicing what did and didn’t work for them.

What she learned was clear: Indian women were being underserved. Their proportions, skin tones and lifestyles were treated as afterthoughts while the Indian clothing industry raced to replicate the next disposable trend.

Building on her experience running India’s first thrift fashion platform, Adrija launched Brune—a brand rooted in fit-first thinking and trend recalibration for Indian women. What began as a small business in one young woman’s closet is now a 10-person design-led team building thoughtful clothes for Indian women.
